Philadelphia: May is here and we are ready to kick off the month with a Queer Healing Circle!! Join us for an afternoon of community healing followed by a RAW VEGAN potluck. It’s taken place on Sunday, May 19th from 1-4pm. Organizer: @femmepowertop 

This event is QTPOC centered and POC Only. There are only 15 spots, so hurry on over and RSVP! 

Veggie Mijas Boston Chapter!  PoC vegans + vegetarians and all poc who are interested in learning about plant based eating and lifestyle are invited to this potluck.

Are you a part of the LGBTQIA+ community or are you an Ally in support of us? Join us as we honor Pride month with the Queer & Allies Workout. Get ready for a fun group workout and socializing after class. This event will be a 50 minute Integration (Yoga & Pilates Barre Fusion) class followed by a Mimosa Social co-hosted with Veggiemijas. Snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring snacks and other offerings to share. Be ready to sweat, eat, drink and chat. We welcome and accept everyone.

NYC: Bronx Meet-Up at Pizzaniste, a Pizzeria at Jerome Avenue with vegan options. This was a collaboration with The Bronx Vegan. (April 15, 2018)

NYC: Feed The Soul Event, Yoga + Wellness Potluck at Sky Ting Yoga.  Kathryn Camacho, a Dominican-certified yoga instructor taught the class and conversation was led by Amy Quichiz. (April 28, 2018) 

NYC: First Brooklyn Vegan Potluck, hosted by Ashlea Ramirez. (May 20, 2018)

NYC: Woodstock Farm Sanctuary trip where Veggie Mijas had their private tour with a Mexican/Italian-American Board Director, Jeannine Cicco Barker. (June 9, 2018)

Oakland: Oakland's First Vegan Potluck hosted by Priscilla Sandoval and Ingrid de Santiago. This potluck was hosted in Lake Merritt, by the Amphitheater. (June 12, 2018)

NYC: The Visibility Pack Picnic. In collaboration with Safeword Society Podcast, they provided a conversation surrounding a variety of topics with their Visibility Pack. This potluck was taken place in Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn. (July 1, 2018) 

LA: Los Angeles' first Vegan Potluck hosted by Organizers Melina and Melissa. (July 14, 2018)

NYC: Cocinando es Medicina with Dominican Community Food Educator, Erenis Hidalgo. This event was taken place in Mayday Space, where Erenis taught us to cook a delicious meal and talk about what Mindful Eating is. (July 15, 2018)

Orange County: First Orange County's Vegan Potluck hosted by Ruby Ortega. The potluck was hosted in Craig Regional Park. (August 4, 2018)

NYC: Veggie Mijas' first time vending at Black Veg Fest, Bedstuy Brooklyn in collaboration with La Raza for Liberation. Veggie Mijas sold Juices such as chica and anise y piña made by Co-Founder, Mariah Bermeo, and foods such as Mushroom Fajitas made by Organizer, Ashlee Dume. Lastly, Veggie Mijas' sold their first T-Shirts. (August 11, 2018)

NYC: Veganniversary; To celebrate Veggie Mijas' creation in August 2017, Veggie Mijas members went to eat at Seasoned Vegan, a black owned soul food business. (August 19, 2018)

NYC: Vegan Panel; In collaboration with La Raza for Liberation, Veggie Mijas hosted a Vegan Panel in V-Spot Restaurant with four other amazing organizers; Woke Foods, Cilanthropia, Food Empowerment Project, and Collectively Free. (August 25, 2018)

Orange County: End of Summer Vegan Picnic Potluck hosted by Ruby Ortega and Ivonne. Picnic took place in Craig Park. (September 8, 2018) 

New York City: Plant and Sip class hosted by Vegetarian Chef, Rose Peña. This event took place near Washington Heights, where we planted herbs, painted pots, and ate amazing food. (September 15, 2018)

Los Angeles: Vegan POC Potluck hosted by Melina and Melissa hosted in Vista Hermosa Park (September 29, 2018)

New York City: GreenThumb NYC has numerous of coomunity gardens and Veggie Mijas had partnered to help fix a garden in The Bronx. This took place in Green Patch on Walton, planted flowers, watered vegetables, and helped create a new look! (September 30, 2018)

Syracuse, NY: Mariah lead a discussion around eating well and showing cooking tricks while in being in College (September 28, 2018)

Chicago: First potluck hosted by Luisa and Nancy. The potluck was taken place in Nancy's home. (October 13, 2018) 

Oakland: Yoga instructor Archaa taught a class, hosted by Priscilla and Ingrid and led a wellness discussion after the session.This event took place at East Bay Community Space. (October 27, 2018)

New Hampshire: Hosted by Carolyn, this potluck took place in Nashua Public Library. (October 28, 2018)

Miami: Hosted by Tammy, organizer of the Miami Chapter. Veggie Mijas had its first poluck, that took place at her house in Downtown Miami. (November 3, 2018)

New York City: Hosted by Samantha, she taught us how to cook with essential oils and talked about the importance of them. This took place in the Bronx at her home. (November 3, 2018)

Philadelphia: First Philly Potluck hosted by Organizer Alicia, alongsidewith Mahika (November 10, 2018).

Chicago: FriendsGiving Potluck hosted by Araceli, Luisa, and Mazie. There was a short breathing exercise, acknowledgement of indigenous mourning day, the land we are on and what this day can mean for indigenous people. Lastly, we talked about turkeys being rescued and had some animal friends present! (November 24, 2018)

Syracuse: Mariah, Food and Art Educator of Syracuse Chapter organized a food workshop, in collaboration with Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York and La Liga Organization, to teach young students about the food system and what a plant-based lifestyle can look like! (November 29, 2018)

New York City: The Bronx Vegan and Veggie Mijas went on a trip to the Botanical Gardens in The Bronx. This was a chance to meet local vegans of color and build bonds with one another! (December 19, 2018)

Washington D.C: First meet up in Washington D.C. organized by Chef Veronica, organizer of the D.C. chapter! The event took place in a kitchen, where prior folks went to the farmers market to pick up some ingredients! The day was filled with learning how to make vegan Salvadoran food and making new friendships. (December 15, 2018)

Miami: Seed Starting Workshop in the heart of overtown in collaboration with @thegreengoddessdiary and @beyondviewtiful. Miami Chapter planted new vegetables, flowers, and took plant medicine home. (January 13, 2019)

Oakland: Magdalena hosted a potluck in their home, opening the space to meet folks of color, vegan queer folks of color for the first time in 2019!

Philadelphia: Alicia hosted a zero-waste Sunday Brunch where folks got together to discuss reducing waste and adopting a zero waste lifestyle hosted in the A-Space Anarchist Community Center. (January 20, 2019)

Los Angeles: Organized by Melina and Melissa, they invited Emily to lead a discussion around being eco-friendly and what that means, why it is important, and to answer questions folks have about a zero-waste lifestyle! (January 26, 2019)

Chicago: Organized by Luisa, Chicago had an event called Copas and Funds to fundraise for the Chicago Chapter of Veggie Mijas. This took place in Tipsy's Tap, with two djs, and $5 minimum coverage! (January 26, 2019)

Washington D.C: Mindfulness & Yoga Healing led by Jamila Anahata, @thesoulfulveganista and Vanessa, @nesscarr_, organized by Veronica @veganfeastbyV (February 23, 2019).

Pheonix: First Potluck Meeting organized by Crystal @la_vegana_crystal; Topics included the challenges POC face when accommodating plant based lifestyles and what we can do to help solve those issues (February 17, 2019).

Miami: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle talk and activity led by Gabriela Cimadevilla, @that_environmental_witch; organized by Tammy Arias @veganxdoula. In the event, folks picked tons of trash, talked about waste and reducing consumption, and also made hygiene/cleaning products (February 24, 2019).

Philadelphia: Cocinando con Amor, organized by Alicia @femmepowertop; attendees submitted a special recipe for an exchange and made a potluck (February 16, 2019).

Chicago: Love & Solidarity Event organized by Araceli @wokevegana and Luisa @demira_ held to write letters of support and solidarity to brave activists in prison (February 24, 2019).

New York City: Lunar New Year Event to celebrate the year of the pig, hosted by Vivian Lee @vivayounghealth, who taught attendees how to make vegan dumplings (February 16, 2019).

Los Angeles/Orange County: Wrapping Yourself in Love, led by Norma Pérez also known as @thesalvivegan to show attendees how to make tamales and talk about self-love; organized by Ruby @veganaxmexicana, Melina @mellyyt_ and Melissa @bym_e_l__

Oakland: Brunch Sundays organized by Magdalena, hosted in Souley Vegan to talk about plant-based resources there is in the community and to get to know one another (March 3, 2019)  

New York City: Lunch Date in collaboration with The Bronx Vegan at La Morada, located in 308 Willis Avenue. La Morada is an undocumented family owned and operated Oaxaca restaurant in the South Bronx. They have a lot of vegan & vegetarian options! (March 23, 2019) 

Dallas: First Dallas Veggie Mijas Meet-up, organized by Destiny. They got together at the Dallas Farmers Market and got some sweet discounts from @Maigoodeats!
